FAQs on Controlled Rate Freezer System

Q. What is the system capacity for cryogenic vials?

A. The standard system has a capacity of 55 screw-top cryogenic tubes at one time (0.5 – 2.0 mL), but we can expand the system to accommodate up to 100.

Q. What is the Minimum Velocity of Freezing that Your Systems Provide?

A. You can set it from the velocity of -0.1℃/min.

Q. What is the Maximum Velocity of Freezing that Your Systems Provide?

A. You may program the velocity up to -10.0℃/min. However, the actual observed velocity may not reach this value.

Q. What is the benefit of using a Stirling Cooler system vs. a freezer that uses liquid nitrogen?

A. Our Program Freezer does not need any liquid nitrogen and therefore it reduces the risk of mycoplasma contamination.

Q. At a time of power outages, does the system restart automatically when power supplies resume? Considering safety, we appreciate a mechanism that requires some operations to resume.

A. For a short outage: As long as the laptop maintains battery life the freeze program resumes when the power comes back on.

For a long outage: When the battery of the laptop runs out, the freezer stops, and the freeze cycle will have to be reset when the power comes back on.

When the communication cable between the laptop and the freezer is removed during a freeze cycle: The freezer maintains the last temperature recorded upon removal of the cable.

Q. Can we start a different freeze cycle while another program is running?

A. It is only possible to have one freeze program at a time.

Q. How much gas is in your system?

A. The entire weight of gas in the system is 2 – 3 grams.
